The integration of technology into our curriculum may not come naturally. What can you suggest to help other educators?

      Kindergarten Animal Needs STEMscopes
      Science
As usual, I tend to do the second Explore before the first. I'll explain why. Explore 1 seems to assume students have already had exposure to what they actually do in Explore 2. Explore 1 "Picky Eaters" frontloads a ton of information the kids probably aren't ready for yet by using words such as Carnivores, Herbivores, and Omnivores. Not that the teacher shouldn't use these words immediately, but my students generally aren't ready to apply their meanings yet. Explore 2 Part 2, begins with a nature walk... what a perfect way to explore Animal Needs! Students get hands on by collecting grass, seeds, flower, etc exposes students to different animals and the foods they eat, which leads to a great discussion about Carnivores, Herbivores, and Omnivores. Then we complete Explore 2 Part 1... I told you we start at the opposite end of how this Scope is organized! The kids are now motivated to move around the room finding their "partner" with the correct food. This can be done in one 40 minute class period. Pictures will come this fall! #kindergarten #STEMscopes #animalneeds #new #NGSS #3Dlearning

      Digital Link to ELA Standards?
      ELA
Does your ELA curriculum have a digital portal where you can search by Standard? Michigan has adopted the 3rd grade reading law. During a recent review of student test results, staff reached the conclusion, it would be useful to have this feature available to search specific skills within our purchased curriculum. The idea would be to search by keyword or standard and the resources available in our program would show up. Hopefully it would show Story Title, Page #, Primary or Secondary Focus, and additional Media. We would love to hear what ELA Curriculum you use and whether it offers this digital interface opportunity. #ELA, #CommonCore, #DigitalResource #New, #Standards, #MichiganED
